The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended USA Cricket’s membership with immediate effect as of 23 September 2025 after finding repeated violations of membership obligations. The ICC Board took the decision following a thorough review and multiple attempts to engage with USA Cricket and its stakeholders. The suspension stems from several failures, including non-compliance with the ICC Constitution, a lack of a functional governance structure, and insufficient progress toward recognition as a National Governing Body by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). The ICC also noted reputational damage caused by USA Cricket’s actions and inactions, which undermined confidence in the organization both nationally and internationally.

While the suspension removes USA Cricket’s membership rights, national teams will still be allowed to participate in ICC events, including preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, ensuring that athletes are not penalized. To maintain continuity, the ICC and appointed representatives will temporarily oversee team management and development until reforms are put in place. A Normalisation Committee will work with USA Cricket to establish transparent governance, operational reforms, and accountability measures necessary for reinstatement. This move by the ICC underscores the importance of compliance and governance for all member boards and serves as a warning that failure to meet standards can lead to immediate and serious consequences.
