• In the early hours of September 10, 2025, Poland reported multiple incursions by Russian-made drones into its airspace during a large-scale Russian drone and missile assault on Ukraine. In response, Poland scrambled fighter jets, activated air defenses, and took rapid action. Several drones were shot down, and four major airports were temporarily closed as a precaution. 

• The Polish Prime Minister confirmed these violations and characterized them as deliberate provocations—leading to heightened border controls near Belarus.

• In late August 2025, a Russian-made Shahed drone crashed and exploded in an eastern Polish farm near Osiny. Although no casualties were reported, the blast shattered nearby windows. Polish officials labeled it “another provocation” and formally protested to Moscow. 

Although this was not a full-scale drone attack, these incidents mark a clear escalation. Russian drones have breached NATO member Poland’s airspace, prompting military and diplomatic responses. They reflect growing tensions and the risks of spillover from the Ukraine conflict.
